Notes for Fringe season 1, episode 14, “Ability“
04:20 I can’t identify the hyperbaric chamber used by Jones, but it has similar features to an SMP Diving Decompression Chamber.
10:28 The FBI redshirt in the episode is played by Noah Bean who was the CIA agent in the 2010 TV version of Nikita.
13:30 I love that Peter’s underground contacts so far consist of an independent computer repair shop owner, and now a second-hand bookshop owner. Nerdiest underground ever.
16:21 Despite using the name “Zerstörung durch Fortschritte der Technologie”, the book Peter is handling is clearly written in english.
29:10 We see the first of “ten tests” but I’m fairly sure this mystery box is never revisited. It’s only retrospectively that you can see all the little hooks given to future writers that are never picked up on.
32:10 First mention of fictional drug Cortexiphan.
34:14 Nina Sharp’s PDA is a slab of glass and light, and for some reason it reminds me of the device used for communicating with Ziggy in Quantum Leap.
41:48 Peter walks a short distance from the explosive to press the button and wait for the elevator. Maybe it’s just me, but personally I’d probably walk down the stairs for at least one flight to avoid waiting near something that’s about to explode in under a minute. It’s an evacuated building with at least 47 floors. If the elevator isn’t already there, it’s likely more than a minute away.
48:00 Walter’s typewriter is an Olympia SM4.
