Person of Interest S4E14

Notes for season 4 episode 14, “Guilty

06:10 “You’re sane… or close enough” jokes the psychologist in the context of approving a police officer to fire weapons.

07:56 “5K” is clearly intended to be read as “5G”. The episode is set in late 2015, a few years after the introduction of 4G networks. 5G started large-scale roll-outs in 2019.

08:30 The person of interest is Nina Sharp from Fringe, so obviously she can’t be trusted.

28:00 Reese sends a technical report to Finch’s phone. So you get to see a pdf displayed with unreadably small type on a 4 inch screen. Finch has no trouble reading it.

28:48 “5K cell towers could microwave people”, this is another episode in which a big business suppresses a safety report, but for something that would be quickly known if it actually went into production. But for the real world 5G rollout, we went through trumped up safety fears that resulted in cell towers being vandalised and being blamed for the symptoms of Covid-19. So the show doing a “5G causes cancer” bit with a straight face feels a bit off.

29:45 The TV news runs new footage of an argument between a murder victim and the person on trial for the murder. This is something that would be criminal in the UK (Contempt of Court Act 1981).

36:30 We briefly see the Logitech C920 (released 2012) previously seen in an anachronistic flashback in S4E05.
