Notes for season 1 episode 16, “Risk”
10:45 Finch runs a “GPRS reroute” to stop the target’s calls being monitored – which I assume from context is putting a reroute entry in the cellphone provider’s database – ie the mechanism used for number portability. Except later we still see that he gets text messages, so they’re being forwarded anyway?
13:13 A Wolf on Wall Street. (SEC investigator is played by Scott Cohen, who I recognise as “Wolf” from TV mini-series “The 10th Kingdom“.)
19:20 If you’re setting up to kill someone, why wouldn’t you also disable the security cameras recording the scene?
27:40 “The safest I’ve ever been is when I was anonymous.”
28:50 The show uses a map on the EIA website to illustrate fracking
28:52 Two more perpetual domain registrations for Warners: eastvillagedispatch.co

32:55 “His phone is tethered to his calendar, maybe I can hack into his GPS.” I assume this means the broker’s phone is either keeping an open network connection to the calendar server, or makes periodic requests, which might somehow be used to retrieve location data.
33:30 Ah, the heel’s lament. “I was so frustrated in my efforts to fight crime that I was forced to become the biggest criminal.”
38:00 Doing a short squeeze to thwart the brokers is an interesting TV twist, but in 2023 the short squeeze has mainstream recognition thanks to GameStonks.
